作品英文描述

The First image reveals a mountainside covered with numerous tin shacks, appearing aged and almost devoid of inhabitants. In Taiwan’s countryside and suburbs, there are mainly old houses remaining, which has led to population outflow, lack of distinctive features, and tourism opportunities. Young people are willing to live in tin shacks or old houses in the suburbs rather than leaving the cities in search of better job opportunities. Additionally, Taiwan seems overly focused on achieving uniform development, whether to bridge the urban-rural gap or for speculative land development purposes. However, the country’s widespread establishment of science parks and development projects has led to the loss of distinctive characteristics in various regions.
The second image represents my ideal place, not filled with tin shacks, but instead preserving natural environment. I suggest that suburbs and rural areas should prioritize preserving their natural environments rather than constant construction. If every city can achieve this, with some preserving farmland, others rivers, and others mountainous areas, it would create distinctiveness in each place. This not only forms local characteristics but also boosts tourism, consequently creating job opportunities. Taiwan could encourage suburban and rural development in a different way. Furthermore, Taiwan still lacks greenery whether in urban or suburban areas. To achieve sustainable cities and communities, it’s not necessary to build expensive green buildings. I believe planting more trees is a better approach. Increasing the number of trees not only purifies the air but also beautify the cityscape, providing people with places to relax and unwind.

創作動機

After living in Taiwan for 20 years, I feel that there are many areas in Taiwan that need improvement. My motivation stems from a journey I took from Tainan to Kaohsiung, during which I wanted to find places to explore and rest along the distant route. Along the way, I stopped at several rural areas, and I found the road was very quiet, even on holidays, with hardly any tourists in sight. Then I noticed the presence of science parks and countless tin shacks along the road, amidst the backdrop of continuous mountains. I couldn’t help but think that this place should be beautiful, but the presence of tin shacks, old houses, and numerous new buildings being constructed amidst farmland and mountains gradually ruined the area’s charm. I began to ponder why Taiwanese people don’t enjoy domestic tourism. It could be because many places lack distinctive features. In reality, many tourists appreciate natural landscapes, but Taiwan continues to develop various areas, causing many places to lose their original charm.

心得與反思

After viewing the AI postcards I made, I feel quite satisfied because it reflects exactly what I envisioned—a landscape with continuous mountains and clear rivers. Taiwan tends to prioritize urbanization, turning many original farmlands and rivers into buildings, gradually destroying many beautiful places. I think this is great pity. In fact, I know that these problems cannot be solved in just a few years, but I hope that we can at least cease development in certain areas and preserve the purest landscapes and unique characteristics of those places. As a consequence, I would like to propose this idea and see if there are any feasible opportunities.
