作品英文描述

This artwork portrays Alishan’s ecosystem, contrasting its current climate struggles with a vision of a sustainable future. In the “current” scene, Alishan’s iconic Cymbidium kanran orchids and bamboo shoots are shown wilting and struggling in dry, cracked soil, impacted by rising temperatures. A faint industrial haze in the background hints at the global reach of climate change and its threat to Alishan’s natural beauty and cultural heritage.
In the “future” scene, Alishan thrives with vibrant orchids and healthy bamboo shoots rooted in lush green soil, symbolizing restoration and balance. Small wind turbines and solar panels integrate with the landscape, representing harmony between renewable energy and nature. This piece highlights the urgent need for climate action to protect Alishan’s ecosystem and preserve its biodiversity for future generations.

創作動機

The motivation for this project is to raise awareness of climate change’s impact on Alishan’s unique ecosystem and to envision a path toward ecological preservation. Alishan, known for its beautiful orchids and bamboo shoots, represents not only natural beauty but also the cultural heritage and biodiversity of Taiwan. However, the effects of rising temperatures threaten these iconic plants and the ecological balance they support. By contrasting scenes of current environmental challenges with an ideal, sustainable future, this project seeks to inspire action and demonstrate how renewable energy and conservation efforts could protect Alishan’s natural and cultural legacy. Through this work, we hope to highlight the urgency of climate action to preserve these landscapes for future generations.

心得與反思

Creating this project was a powerful reminder of the fragile balance within natural ecosystems and the immediate need for climate action. Alishan’s unique beauty and biodiversity are not only ecological treasures but also symbols of cultural identity and heritage. Visualizing the current threats facing Alishan’s flora made me reflect on how human actions impact even the most remote natural landscapes. The process of imagining a sustainable future for Alishan also strengthened my belief in the importance of renewable energy and conservation efforts. I realized that small steps toward sustainability, when integrated across communities, can lead to meaningful change. This project deepened my awareness of environmental issues and reinforced my commitment to supporting initiatives that protect natural and cultural landscapes for future generations.
