作品英文描述

The “Current State” postcard depicts the challenging reality facing Taiwanese agriculture today. The terraced fields, iconic symbols of Taiwan’s agricultural heritage, appear dry and overgrown with weeds, illustrating the adverse effects of unsustainable practices and urban expansion. In the distance, industrial structures and cityscapes loom, signaling the encroachment of development on rural land and the struggle between maintaining tradition and economic progress. This image calls attention to the urgent need for sustainable solutions to preserve both the environment and cultural heritage.
In contrast, the “Vision” postcard showcases a future of harmonious balance between agriculture and modern development. Here, the terraced fields are lush and well-tended, embodying eco-friendly farming practices that respect both nature and heritage. Farmers work peacefully, integrated with their surroundings, while the skyline features green architecture, symbolizing a commitment to sustainability. This scene reflects an ideal of responsible consumption and production, where traditional practices and modern innovation come together, creating a thriving and balanced environment that inspires collective efforts toward a sustainable future.

創作動機

The motivation behind creating the “Current State” and “Vision” postcards lies in raising awareness of the critical challenges and opportunities facing Taiwan’s agriculture. As urbanization accelerates, traditional farmlands are increasingly threatened by industrial expansion and unsustainable practices, risking not only environmental degradation but also the loss of Taiwan’s rich agricultural heritage. The “Current State” postcard is intended to provoke reflection on the visible consequences of neglecting sustainable practices, emphasizing the need for urgent action to preserve natural landscapes and cultural traditions.

Conversely, the “Vision” postcard seeks to inspire hope and highlight the possibilities of a future where responsible production and consumption guide development. By depicting a landscape where eco-friendly agriculture flourishes alongside sustainable urban planning, this postcard represents an achievable balance between tradition and progress. Together, these postcards aim to spark a conversation about Taiwan’s path to sustainability, illustrating both the risks of inaction and the rewards of a future built on respect for nature and responsible stewardship.

心得與反思

Creating the “Current State” and “Vision” postcards has been a thought-provoking journey, highlighting the intricate challenges and opportunities of sustainable development in Taiwan. The “Current State” postcard left me with a sense of urgency and concern, as it vividly portrays the consequences of neglecting our natural and cultural heritage. It served as a stark reminder that unchecked urbanization and unsustainable practices not only degrade the environment but also erode the traditions that define our identity. This realization emphasizes the need for immediate action to address these issues.

On the other hand, the “Vision” postcard filled me with hope and inspiration. Imagining a future where traditional agricultural practices harmonize with modern sustainability efforts showcases the potential of innovation and collaboration. It reinforced my belief that progress does not have to come at the cost of nature or heritage. Instead, responsible consumption, production, and stewardship can lead to a thriving balance between tradition and modernity.

This experience deepened my appreciation for the delicate interplay between human development and environmental preservation. It also reminded me of the power of visual storytelling to spark meaningful conversations and inspire collective action. These postcards serve not just as artistic expressions but as calls to rethink our relationship with nature and take steps toward a more sustainable future.
