This artwork explores the complex relationship between rapid urbanization and the preservation of Taiwan’s traditional architecture, represented by red-brick buildings and temples. In the foreground, a historic red-brick temple stands as a testament to Taiwan’s cultural legacy, surrounded by towering modern skyscrapers, symbolizing urban growth. Construction cranes and bustling traffic reflect the pressures and challenges of modernization. The work highlights how respect for history can coexist with modern needs, creating resilient, inclusive, and culturally rich cities. 創作動機
The theme “Urbanization and Integration of Traditional Architecture” stems from the complex interplay between preserving cultural heritage and accommodating modern urban demands. Taiwan’s red-brick temples and historic buildings, rich with cultural symbolism, often stand in contrast to rapid urbanization. This juxtaposition reveals the challenges of maintaining historical integrity within growing cities. My motivation for this project lies in highlighting this tension while envisioning a harmonious blend of tradition and modernity. By utilizing generative AI art, I aim to portray the current struggle of Taiwan’s traditional architecture being overshadowed by modern skyscrapers, and the opportunities for innovative solutions that integrate historical elements into future urban designs. Through artistic interpretation, this work invites dialogue on how we can respect and preserve cultural landmarks while promoting sustainable urban growth. It emphasizes the potential for reimagining cities that honor their past while embracing the future, creating inclusive spaces where tradition and progress coalesce seamlessly. This vision reflects a path toward resilient, culturally vibrant, and sustainable communities that value both history and innovation.
心得與反思
The process allowed me to reflect on the delicate balance between preserving the past and adapting to contemporary needs. This project has highlighted the importance of sustainable, thoughtful planning that not only respects historical landmarks but also integrates them into modern communities. Through my generative AI creation, I sought to portray both the challenges and the opportunities. It became clear that heritage conservation need not stand in opposition to progress; instead, they can coexist and enrich urban life. The reflection reinforced that blending tradition and innovation is key to building resilient, inclusive communities. It is my hope that the artwork serves as an invitation for dialogue, inspiring future generations to honor history while envisioning sustainable cities of tomorrow.
