作品英文描述

This work portraying a different aspect of Taiwan’s biodiversity challenges and hopes for ecological restoration. The first postcard highlights the devastating impact of unchecked deforestation and urban expansion on natural habitats. It features a barren forest with cracked soil, stumps, and struggling wildlife, including weak birds and a solitary deer. The image emphasizes the fragility of ecosystems under human pressure, with dust and smoke filling the air, underscoring the urgency for conservation. Through this piece, the goal is to raise awareness of the critical need for protecting biodiversity and the environment.
The second postcard envisions an ideal, restored future where conservation efforts have revitalized Taiwan’s forests. A vibrant, lush forest teems with diverse flora and fauna, thriving under active management. Sunlight streams through the canopy, and wildlife, including deer, rabbits, and colorful birds, roam freely in a balanced ecosystem. Signs of conservation, such as protected areas and observation platforms, symbolize the success of sustainable practices. This piece aims to inspire collective action to restore and protect natural habitats, ensuring a harmonious coexistence between humans and nature.

創作動機

The motivation behind creating this work stems from a deep concern for the rapid decline of biodiversity in Taiwan due to deforestation and urban expansion. As human activities increasingly encroach on natural habitats, the delicate balance of ecosystems is being disrupted, putting countless species at risk. Witnessing the loss of these vital ecosystems, I felt compelled to raise awareness about the critical need for conservation efforts. The project was driven by the desire to capture both the devastating consequences of environmental destruction and the hopeful potential for ecological restoration.

Through this work, I aim to highlight the urgency of preserving biodiversity and to inspire action toward sustainable practices. By juxtaposing the stark reality of environmental degradation with the vision of a thriving, protected natural world, I hope to motivate individuals and communities to take responsibility for the protection of our planet. The artwork serves as a reminder that conservation is not just about protecting wildlife, but also ensuring the long-term survival of our ecosystems for future generations. Through visual storytelling, I hope to spark dialogue, foster greater environmental awareness, and inspire collective action to create a more sustainable and harmonious future.

心得與反思

Creating this work has been both an eye-opening and rewarding experience. Throughout the process, I gained a deeper understanding of the urgent environmental issues facing Taiwan, particularly the loss of biodiversity due to deforestation and urban expansion. By translating these challenges into visual art, I was able to connect emotionally with the message I wanted to convey. The contrast between the barren forest and the thriving ecosystem served as a powerful reminder of what is at stake and the importance of taking action to preserve our natural habitats.

The reflection on this project has also made me more conscious of the impact that human development has on the environment. It reinforced the notion that our actions today directly affect the future of biodiversity and the stability of ecosystems. While creating the images, I also realized how challenging it is to strike a balance between portraying the harsh reality of environmental degradation and presenting a hopeful vision of restoration. The process has strengthened my belief in the power of art to raise awareness and inspire change.

This project has inspired me to further explore ways to promote sustainability and ecological conservation in my personal and professional life. I hope that through this work, I can contribute to the larger conversation on environmental preservation and motivate others to take meaningful steps toward a more sustainable future.
