作品英文描述
The first image depicts the current situation of a traditional Taiwanese temple festival, where the scene is filled with crowds and incense smoke. The street is crowded with vendors, and red lanterns hang at the entrance of the temple as worshippers hold incense and pray. Overhead, colorful fireworks explode in the night sky, with thick smoke gradually spreading, symbolizing severe air pollution. Many people cover their ears, clearly bothered by the deafening sound of the fireworks. In the distance, flocks of startled birds fly away, representing the disruption to the natural environment caused by the festivities. This image highlights the air and noise pollution problems caused by fireworks in temple festivals. The second image presents an improved version of the festival. The sky is now free of fireworks and smoke, replaced by a drone light show. Hundreds of drones form precise shapes in the night sky, creating symbols like dragons, phoenixes, or deities, with soft lights and no noise. People relax and enjoy the silent performance, no longer covering their ears, but instead raising their phones to capture the moment. The plants in the scene are lush, the air is fresh, and animals freely roam nearby, creating an eco-friendly and harmonious atmosphere. This image illustrates how technology, through drones, can replace fireworks and achieve both environmental protection and cultural preservation.
創作動機
The motivation behind creating these two images stems from a desire to explore the relationship between traditional culture and sustainable development. Through this English learning class, we have stimulated a strong sense of wanting to preserve Taiwan’s traditional temple fair culture and achieve sustainable development at the same time, as well as passing on Taiwan’s unique temple fair culture. Taiwan’s temple festivals are rich in heritage, yet they often face criticism for the environmental impact caused by setting off large amount of fireworks. The first image highlights the current challenges, portraying the vibrant yet polluted atmosphere that accompanies these events. It serves as a reminder of the urgent need for awareness regarding air and noise pollution. In contrast, the second image envisions a solution through the use of drone light shows. By showcasing drones as a modern alternative to fireworks, the image emphasizes how technology can preserve cultural expressions while minimizing environmental harm.
心得與反思
Reflecting on the creation of these two images, we have gained a deeper understanding of the delicate balance between cultural heritage and environmental sustainability. It became clear to us that while traditional festivals are vital for community identity and continuity, their practices can inadvertently harm the environment. The process of illustrating the vibrant yet polluted festival scene made us realize how urgent it is to address these environmental concerns. Conversely, envisioning a future with drone performances opened our eyes to the possibilities of innovation and creativity in preserving cultural traditions. This project has inspired us to advocate for solutions that harmonize cultural expression with ecological responsibility. We hope these images encourage others to consider how we can celebrate our heritage in ways that respect and protect our planet. And because we need to communicate with AI by giving it prompts, through this project we learned many specialized terms that we hadn’t encountered before, as well as gained a better understanding of various English sentence structures.
